A BRIEF HISTORY OF SEKHAR SANKARDEV MISSION M.E./SECONDARY SCHOOL, DIMAKUCHI

Dimakuchi, may be called an underdeveloped village, situated at the foot-hills of the great Himalayas, in the lap of Bhutan hills, in the northern- western most corner of Udalguri district of newly born BTAD, Assam, is known for her Tea gardens and sports, especially, for football. Since pr- independent period of India, this remote village has been neglected. Her fertile soil had attracted the British Tea growers who planted tea gardens with the help of the local inhabitants and imported labours from adjacent states of Bihar and Orissa. Naturally, the aborigines and the imported labours were very hard working people.
